Well no wonder the pants don’t fit! If you are short on time and perhaps a little short on energy, try some of
these suggestions to get fit with your kids and be ready for the fun summer fashions that await.

1. Hit the Park, Trail or Beach with your toddler or babies while the big kids are at school. The Baby Bling

Celebrating Babies and Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! May 5th is traditionally celebrated around the nation as the Mexican Independence Day. Translated as “the Fifth of May,” Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican Holiday celebrating the Battle of Puebla, which took place on May 5, 1862. This date is celebrated by Mexican Americans and people all throughout the United States to remember the famous battle between Mexico and France. Our family loves to celebrate Cinco de Mayo each year with a fun and tasty Mexican fiesta. Try some of these tasty ideas from my fav cooking magazine, Cooking Light for a fun and unique “taco fiesta”!

Mahi and Mango Tacos:
Start with warm corn or flower tortillas and add one of the following tasty combinations.
Add:
1 tablespoon of sliced red onions
2 tablespoons of diced mango
2 tablespoons of diced avocado
2 ounces of grilled mahi mahi fillets

Crustacean Crunch:
2 tablespoons of pcio de gallo
1/4 cup of shredded red cabbage
2 ounces of lime grilled shrimp
1 tablespoon of salsa verde

Complete the meal “grown up style” with a Frozen Margarita. this recipe is one of the simplest I have seen and
makes it convenient to make a margarita anytime you’re ready for one. From The Food Network Mag:

Frozen Margarita
Mix 1.5 cups of water, 1.25 cusp each of orange liqueur ad fresh lime juice and 2/3 cup superfine sugar. Freze the
mixture in ice cube trays at least 6 hours to make about 32 ice cubes. Moisten the rim of each glass with a lime
wedge or water and then dip in coarse salt. For each drink, puree 6 to 7 margarita ice cubes with 2 ounces of
tequila in a blender. With the motor running, add 6 to 7 regular ice cubes, one a t a time, until sluchy. Then pour
and relax!

Cinco de Mayo isn’t the only fun celebration of independence. When young babies are ready to spread their wings a
little and show a readiness for eating solid foods, this new stage of infant development is certainly a cause for
celebration. How do you know your baby is ready for solids? Typically around 6 months of age most babies show a readiness for trying solid foods. Usually at this time, healthy, full term babies are born with enough iron stores to last about six months. Some sure tale signs of readiness to try solid food
include:
* A strong neck and the ability to control jerky head mvements
* The ability to sit sturdy when properly supported
*The ability to push food toard the back of the mouth and to swallow
* Your baby is at least 15 lbs or has doubled their birth weight
*Formula and/or breat milk do not seem sufficient to satisfy your babys hunger.

Of course, you always want to speak with your pediatrician first about your childs readiness to ensure that you are
nourishing him or her in the best way possible. Also introducing soilds too early can initiate food allergies and as well as possibly interfere with the absorption of iron absorption from breast milk.

Ever since my husband and I went to http://www.Direc4u.com/to get Direct TV, we have been bickering over what to watch on TV! The other day I really just wanted to relax on the couch and watch a movie, but he was insisting on watching the Masters. I am fine with watching most sports with him, but golf is seriously the most boring sport of all. Is it even called a sport? It seems like it is all chance. At least I know it is for me when I go play putt-putt! I could not believe that he was so persistent to watch this golf tournament because he never watches golf on a normal day. Just because it was the Masters, all of the sudden he is acting like he is the biggest golf fan ever! It was driving me crazy. This is why I think I may just buy him his own flat screen TV for father’s day. That way when I want to watch something else, I can send him to the other room to watch ‘his’ TV!
